I'm a twenty three-year old-English teacher. I'm working at CEIC, Sanata Dharma. Honestly, I didn't want to be a teacher. I couldn't imagine myself standing in front of so many curious eyes and speaking to all of them. In English! Such an amazing drama! Hahaha... But now I come to this point. I enjoy teaching English, even though sometimes I make stupid mistakes or show not teacher-like attitude. I'm happy to share all knowledge that I have to them, my beloved students. I can't deny that at some degrees I feel the boredom of being a teacher. You know, it's like you're not just in the mood. You're sick of the routines in which you come to the class, say hi, ask questions, get answers, encourage, explain, revise, review, read, listen, discuss, and act! No excuse, I sometimes have to be an actress of who I'm actually not. But again, I love teaching. I love to share, I love to speak another language, I love to see my students' faces, I love to see their expressions when they successfully catch the objectives of the lesson, I love to know that my students make a progress, I love to see people begin, process, and achieve!

But I am not trapped in the routines every time. In my work place, we have an activity outside the regular class. We call it outdoor activity. This is an activity where the students and the teachers can learn English together in a fun way. It can be in the form of watching a movie, making performance, potluck party, etc. This is the place where students can speak English without being afraid of making mistakes. I've taught for almost one year, and I've joined two outdoor activities. Let me show you what we've done. These were class performances on February 2012.

At that time, students performed several creative commercial breaks and dramas. It's surprising how they prepared everything well. So touching! :) They were supposed to speak English confidently and they did it. In that occasion, they showed their talents and at the same time practiced what they had got from the regular classes.

The second outdoor activity was on July 2012 in the form of movie club. The students and the instructors watched a movie together and discussed it at the end. The event was held in the middle of fasting period which made it more fun!

Oh, I know I'll miss that moments someday. Well, you know that being a teacher is not that bad (who says so actually??? : p). There are many awesome things that may surprise you, which of course can't be found in another kind of job or profession. The key is enjoying, loving what you do.
And these were my beloved students and teaching-partners.... Nice to meet you, guys!! :)
